Implementation of Environmental Management System to ISO 14001

Objective:

To provide an Environmental Management System framework to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard.

Added Value to Client:

The client was able to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard and gained ISO 14001 accreditation.

Activity:

AREVA Risk Management Consulting Ltd (AREVA RMC) provided long-term support on the implementation of an EMS to ISO 14001 standard across a number of major facilities handling radiological, chemical and hazardous substances over each of the client's sites. AREVA RMC provided Team Leaders for the assessment of defined project areas including; waste management, maintenance and the procurement of suppliers.

AREVA RMC prepared detailed aspect registers, conducted environmental risk identification and aspect significance evaluation for a number of high hazard facilities. AREVA RMC also assisted in the production of Technical Standards, environmental objectives and targets for the significant aspects. Subsequently, AREVA RMC assisted the review of environmental performance against these indicators.
