Waste Management Process Audit

Objective:

Confirm Waste Management Process compliance with defined standards (ISO9001:2000, ISO14001:1996, 50-C/SG-Q, ISRS 6th Edition, Company Management System Manual).

• To assess the level of implementation of the Waste Management Process at each site.
• To provide the Process Champion with data for management review.
• To identify opportunities for business improvement.

Added value to client:

The client successfully assessed the consistency of approach and implementation of the defined radioactive and non-radioactive Waste Management Processes over three of its sites.

Activity:

RRM Consultants Ltd (RMC) formed part of the audit team, which undertook an examination of the waste management processes at three largely independent client sites. The audit covered all radioactive and non-radioactive Waste Management Processes at each site. Two days were spent at each site to determine how well the Waste Management Processes worked, which initiatives worked well and where business improvements could be implemented.

A schedule of interviews, documentation audits and walkrounds were identified and conducted against pre-defined audit checklist pro-forma. A sample range of liquid, gaseous and solid radioactive and non-radioactive Waste Management Processes were examined. The relationships between waste generator, radioactive materials transport co-ordinator and waste management operations were assessed.

RMC assisted in the production of an overview feedback document at the end of the audit.
