Nuclear Site Licensing Support to RWMD

Objective:

To provide support to RWMD to evolve the division's management structure to that required of a nuclear site licence and environmental permit holder.

Added Value to Client:

AREVA RMC developed and assisted the implementation of the programme to develop RWMD’s safety and environmental arrangements to become the delivery organisation for a deep geological disposal facility.

Activities:

The main activities carried out were the::

• Production of a safety and environmental prospectus which demonstrates how the management requirements for obtaining a licence and permit are met.
• Development of competency management system arrangements to deliver the necessary knowledge and expertise of members of the organisation as well as its organisational capability to ensure safety.
• Undertaking a gap analysis to identify where progress is required to meet the requirements and development of a prioritised action plan.
