Monte Carlo Simulation
The LOGAN Monte Carlo Simulation package is designed to assess process availability. The system simulates both binary systems (working/not working) and systems capable of operating at various levels of production. The system has the following main features:
- Full Microsoft Windows™ operation.
- Assessment of the availability of logic systems (failure/success), production availability of analogue systems with degraded levels of operation and mixed systems (e.g. services as logic, production line a analogue
- Import/Export logic model from RMC’s LOGAN Fault Tree module
- Choice of on screen editor: Reliability Block Diagram format or LOGAN success logic diagram format
- Output in graphical or tabular formats with statistical analysis of results
- Multi–page RBDs or logic diagrams
- Facility to animate the simulation, helping users to better visualise and understand the process being modelled
- Models:
- effect of limited spares holdings and spares re-order times
- effect of limited repair resources
- duty/standby arrangements
- majority vote logic
- revealed failures
- unrevealed failures and proof testing
- effect of batch deliveries of raw materials, batch take-offs of product and limited buffer storage
- time dependent failure probabilities using Weibull distribution
- MTBF and MTTR probability distributions including normal, lognormal, rectangular, fixed, etc.
RMC recognises that many simulation problems have unique aspects often not covered by a general-purpose model. The system can therefore easily be modified to incorporate custom features.
